About
Ionovate ≡ ionic innovation
Ionovate develops innovative electrochemical technologies to assist society’s transition to alternative fuels & energy storage/delivery devices. Our next-generation electrochemical energy storage and delivery devices utilize a variety of direct fuel cell and redox flow cell electrochemistries.
Unlike similar existing technologies, our flow cells operate at power, capacity, and energy density scales capable of serving both the electric vehicle and renewables’ storage/grid-balancing sectors.
Alexis Pietak
Ionovate founder and CEO Alexis Pietak created Ionovate Inc. as a vehicle to enable and foster the design, development, and commercialization of the most promising emerging technologies to assist society’s transition from fossil fuels to a more sustainable future.
With a lifelong passion for the development of new ideas, technologies, and devices that have made the world a better place, Alexis brings over 20 years of richly diverse experience in corporate & academic R&D, engineering design, and project management to Ionovate.
Alexis’ highlighted experience includes being the primary inventor of the patented magnetic cell separation system at use in Lonza’s automated cell therapy manufacturing Cocoon™, serving as Research Manager at Octane Innovation Inc., and her continued groundbreaking work with the complex electrochemical systems of living organisms as an Associate Research Scientist at Tufts University, USA.
Alexis has a PhD in physics (2005), & dual degrees in engineering physics (2000) and biochemistry (2001) from Queen’s University Canada.
Brian Curry
Ionovate co-founder and CIO Brian Curry is a computer scientist who shares Ionovate’s passionate drive to help society transition to a more sustainable future.
Brian brings Ionovate his extensive experience in software engineering and microcontrollers to: assist in the development of the software tools and platforms used internally to design and optimize Ionovate products; identify & implement microprocessors and other electronics used to build our prototype devices; and serves our web development needs.
Brian has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the California Polytech Institute, San Luis Obispo (2005), and has made renowned contributions to the open source software community – most notably for his BearType API.
